Purpose
The purpose of the Water for Rwanda 5K Run is to raise awareness about the water issues that face the community of Bungwe, Rwanda:
80% of illnesses in developing countries are related to poor water and sanitation conditions.
750,000 children die each year in Sub-Saharan Africa due to unsanitary water.
35% of Rwandan’s do not have access to clean drinking water.
40 lbs is the average weight of one jerry can used to transport water.
46% of Rwandan’s live without any basic sanitation.
